Notes from the Members of the Board:
One of the most important corrections in Oscar history is this year, in regards to Barbara Stanwyck’s performance in Stella Dallas. Anyone who sees her in this movie must agree that the Academy really blew it. Miss Stanwyck never received a competitive Oscar. This was very gratifying to change history and make her the winner.
Walt Disney got a special Oscar and seven miniature Oscars for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. His masterpiece gets a Rag award from us as the first feature-length cartoon that still stands the test of time. And, as incredible as it may seem, none of the songs from the cartoon were nominated at the Oscars.
Paul Muni becomes the first actor to win two Best Actor Rag awards. Alfred Newman is the first person to compete against himself in the same category.
