Alanna: Lioness Rampant
by Tamora Pierce
To avoid spoilers, go back and read the first three “Alanna books” in the Song of the Lioness series—this is the conclusion!
As you know by now, Alanna, our brave and sympathetic heroine, has achieved her goal. She has become the first lady knight. After her sojourn in the desert during the third book, she returns to the royal palace to make her decision of which man she truly loves—only, Alanna the Lioness lives up to her name and brings back a third love interest with her to the palace!
If you’ve been keeping up with the series, you probably have your own opinion about which man she should pick. Jonathon and George are each tempting choices in their own right, but once this third mystery man enters the picture, all bets are off! The last book in the series is full of love, conflict, action, more love, and more action.
I didn’t agree with the choice Alanna made in the end, but I’m sure other readers will feel differently. And even if you don’t like the ending, you’ve been through so much with Alanna, it’s hard to stay mad at her. You’ll get over it, and when you do, you’ll go back and read the entire series all over again. I’ve done that over a dozen times. Each time I keep hoping she’ll pick the guy I want her to pick, but whenever I get disappointed, it just sends me right back to the beginning again!
Trust me, this is a series you’ll love.
