Catch .44 (2011)
Told in Rashomon-style, this violent action flick tells the story of a robbery gone terribly wrong. The film starts in a greasy spoon, and Malin Akerman and her girlfriends are talking in a booth. They whip out their guns and start a hold-up, but the waitresses are quicker and one of the girls in the gang gets shot. The next scene gives a little more information about the events leading up to the hold-up, with the conclusion lasting a few seconds longer in the diner so the audience can see who else gets shot. The following scenes starts earlier, and so on.
Malin is the lead, and if we’re being honest, the only reason I sat through this incredibly violent movie was because she’s so beautiful. Forest Whitaker has an interesting part, with different accents in different scenes and plenty of twists and turns to add to the plot. Most of the suspense in the film takes place during his scenes, so if you’re a fan, you might want to check this one out. If you’re watching it for Bruce Willis, you’re in for a long wait, since he doesn’t even show up until about an hour into the movie. He isn’t given much to do, so don’t really expect much from anyone besides Forest.
Rule of thumb: If you liked Seven Psychopaths, you’ll like this movie. It’s incredibly violent, and I have the feeling that part of it is supposed to be sadistically funny.
Kiddy Warning: Obviously, you have control over your own children. However, due to violence, I wouldn't let my kids watch it.
