This week, Hot Toasty Rag is honoring Chris O'Donnell! Check his page every day for new reviews of his films, starting with these '90s classics Scent of a Woman and Circle of Friends. We've also got a video clip from my favorite, The Bachelor. And never fear, '90s kids, if you miss him because he doesn't really make movies anymore, you can find him happily installed on the television series NCIS: Los Angeles where he's been a regular for the past ten years!

Technically, it's not really a new valley, but I do have new reviews for the wonderful new adult series Sweet Valley University. This series has kept me company for years, and as much as I'm enjoying it, I do dread the time when I finally finish all 50+ books. Check out the series page for reviews on Elizabeth's Summer Love, Sweet Kiss of Summer, The Roommate, and His Secret Past.
Buster Keaton's week has come to a close, and all 28 of his reviews are now posted to his page. Are we going to stay in the silent era? Well, take a look at your clue for the next star:
Step back into that time machine, folks. Next week’s star starred in a remake of a Buster Keaton movie 75 years later! Do you know who it is? Check back on Tuesday to see if you're right. This week, Hot Toasty Rag will be raising a glass to the incomparable Buster Keaton! For you silent film buffs out there who think the list on his page is incomplete, I'm only reviewing full-length films, not shorts. He made dozens, so check them out if you're craving more! To start with, I've posted reviews for my two favorites, The General and The Cameraman, as well as a video clip from Our Hospitality. Enjoy! To start the year off, here are a few books about animals I’ve read recently. All three nonfiction and all three interesting in their own way. Check out my reviews for The Beauty of the Maasai Mara, Unlikely Friendships, and Cleo. What are your favorite animal books?
Donald O'Connor's time as Star of the Week has come to a close, and all 22 of his reviews have now been posted to his page. Who's next?
Well, we're stepping back in time a bit. Next week's star was an icon in the silent era. Donald O'Connor played him in a 1950s biopic! Any guesses? Check back on Monday to see if you're right. Our first Star of the Week for 2019 is Donald O'Connor! To start out, we've got reviews posted for Singin' in the Rain and one of my favorite movies of all time, Call Me Madam, as well as a video clip from the latter which is the best solo dance number I've ever seen! Keep coming back to his page, and we'll post new reviews every day. Enjoy! What a fantastic roster of stars in 2018--Kirk Douglas, David Niven, Susan Hayward, Doris Day, and over a dozen more! Who did you enjoy reading about? Were there any you hadn't heard of before and were inspired to watch some new movies? Who haven't we featured that you're anxious to see?
Well, we've got another list of wonderful stars planned for 2019, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Here's your first clue, picking up where we left off with Bing Crosby, whose 51 reviews are now posted to his page: Bing Crosby acted with next week's star in a 1950s musical, and he also acted with him twenty years earlier--Next week's star started out as a child actor! Come back on Saturday to see who our first Star of the Week is. This post has been in the works for an entire year, isn't that amazing? My mom and I enjoyed the Hallmark television series Cedar Cove so much that we bought the DVD collection and decided it would be our summer ritual to watch one season every year--on repeat! If you haven't seen it, check it out. It's so delightful, charming, romantic, and sweet.
Last Christmas, my parents bought me the complete collection of Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove novels! How awesome, right? So, since there were twelve in the series, not including the Christmas books, I thought it would be a lot of fun to read one book a month for the year, then end by reading all the Christmas books in December. And it was a lot of fun! Check out my Cedar Cove page with all the reviews to see what I thought of the originals to the beloved tv show. |
