No, it’s not all I read, but I have been steadily reading the Sweet Valley University series going on three years. Why? Because it’s fantastic, soapy, interesting, fun, and nostalgic. After all, I grew up with Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield when I was a kid—why wouldn’t I want to continue their journey now that we’re both older? So, if you’re not hooked yet, skip this post and come back tomorrow for the new Star of the Week. If you are hooked, head on over to the series page and check out three new reviews for Busted!, The Trial of Jessica Wakefield, and What Winston Saw.

How are you enjoying the Hot Toasty Rag Awards? If you haven't had a chance to look them over yet, you might want to head on over, because the next star is a two-time Hot Toasty Rag winner!
Yes, Al Pacino's week is over, and all 36 reviews are now posted to his page. What's his connection to next week's star? Next week's star originated the role of one of Al Pacino's most famous movies fifty years earlier. Check back on Thursday to find out who it is! Welcome, welcome to the Hot Toasty Rag Awards! We have a brand-new feature here at The Rag, one that has been years in the making. Is there anyone out there who hasn't complained about the Academy Awards' choices and omissions? We are no exception, and we've compiled our own list of nominees and winners to receive Hot Toasty Rags! The cartoon on the left is a representation of our trophy, and if you want to see the real Rag Award, head on over to the About page to see one of the co-founders posing with it! So far, we've posted our awards lists for 1932-1939. On each page, you'll find a list of the corresponding Oscar nominees and winners, so you can see why we felt the need to right the wrongs. Also, you'll be able to watch a video presentation for every year's awards! What are you waiting for? Dress up in your tuxes and gowns and head on over to the Hot Toasty Rags! There's going to be a new feature on the Hot Toasty Rag! It's incredibly exciting and has been an incredibly long time in the works. I won't tell you exactly what it is, but I will tell you that I will be announcing the new development next Monday. Why Monday? Because it's the morning after the Academy Awards, and traditionally, all the newspapers, or 'rags', will feature headlines of the winners.
Do you know what the Hot Toasty Rag news is? I hope so, and I hope you're as excited as I am! Come back on Monday to celebrate our new feature, and be sure to dress up in your tuxes and gowns! Al Pacino is our new Star of the Week! Did any of you guess right? To kick things off, we've got two reviews posted to his page, as well as a video clip from Scarface. Ladies, start your reading with Frankie and Johnny. Gents, start with Scarface. You know the drill, come back every day for two new reviews, and enjoy! The wonderful thing about reading, or watching movies, is that there’s always more to read and watch. Even when you’ve been looking forward to something and it isn’t as good as you thought it would be, there’s always something else to take up your attention. And you can always go back and revisit a favorite or two! Today, I’ve posted reviews of three books that weren’t as good as I’d expected: The Corsican Brothers, Between Here and Forever, and Return to Peyton Place.
Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, how about some dark, super depressing books? I’m just teasing, but sometimes it’s fun to read the heavy books in the winter and save the beach reads for the sunshine. Check out my reviews for The Kitchen House, The True Story of Hansel and Gretel, The Color Purple, and The Easter Parade. Read if you dare—these are heavy!
Chris O'Donnell's week has come to an end, and all 14 of his reviews are now posted to his page. Did you know lots of his costars went on to win Academy Awards? Next week's star won an Oscar for the movie he made with Chris O'Donnell.
That was your clue, folks, and it's much easier than the past couple of clues. Check back on Thursday to see if your guess is right. |
