Our new Star of the Week is Curd Jurgens! Many of you might not know who he is, so I hope you find some good "new" movies to watch while getting to know this good (and hunky) actor. To start things off, reviews of two great dramas Brainwashed and The Blue Angel are posted to his page. He was nominated for a Rag for both performances! You can also watch a video clip from The Longest Day. Come back to his page every day for two new reviews, and enjoy - I know I will!

Since yesterday was the first official day of spring, let's share some spring-ish book reviews:
Baby the Rain Must Fall - as long as we're saying goodbye to the rain! Sweet Valley #39: Elizabeth Loves New York - it's about time we caught up with the Wakefield twins, isn't it? Leaving Cheyenne - a memorable and moving western by Larry McMurtry The Philosopher's Diet - bikini season is coming up. . . Ingrid Bergman's week has come to a close, and all 31 of her reviews are now posted to her page. I hope you had a good time revisiting her classics! Are you ready for your clue? Only die-hard old movie buffs will get this one; everyone else just come back on Wednesday to find out who he is.
This magnetic German actor usually played villains, but in one of his good-guy roles, he played Ingrid Bergman's love interest. A toast to Ingrid Bergman, our new Star of the Week! To start things off, you can watch a classic video clip from Gaslight. Also posted to her page are reviews for The Visit and A Walk in the Spring Rain, two of her finest performances. Come back every day for new reviews, and enjoy! Usually I group my book review posts into a theme, but sometimes a book is so special it deserves its own post. Furious Love, the extensive chronicle of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor's love story, was pretty incredible to read. No matter how little or how much you know about them, you're guaranteed to learn something. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes painful, but always loving - read my full review here.
Yul Brynner's week has come to a close, and all 21 of his reviews are now posted to his page. Are you ready for your next clue?
Next week’s star has 4 Golden Globes, 3 Oscars, 2 Rags, 2 Emmys, and a Tony under her belt. She won her second Academy Award when she acted opposite Yul Brynner. Do you know who this talented lady is? Leave your guesses below, and check back on Sunday to find out if you're right. As it's David Niven's birthday today, and since you all know how much I love him, I thought I'd share the review of a fabulous biography I read recently. Niv is a wonderful, well-researched, loving tribute to him, and although parts of it are hard to read, I totally recommend it. Click here to find out why. |
