Contemporary dramas can be very exciting, but there's just nothing more dramatic than a period piece, is there? The lavish costumes, beautiful surroundings, and sometimes historical characters already put you in a state of heightened emotions. I just adore period dramas, so here are some old favorites with former Stars of the Week to close out the month:
Becket, Cleopatra, Doctor Zhivago, and one of my all-time favorites They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (which just won Jane Fonda a Rag award!)

Miyoshi Umeki's week has come to an end, and now it's time for your clue for next week's Star. All 5 reviews are posted to her page; here's your clue:
Next week’s star sang and danced alongside Miyoshi Umeki in a 1960s musical. This actress is still going strong - do you know who she is? Check back on Tuesday to find out. Miyoshi Umeki didn't make many movies, but we're here to celebrate her as Star of the Week anyway! In case you didn't know, Miss Umeki was the first (and up until 2020, the only) Asian woman to win an acting Oscar. Since she only made a handful of movies before acting in three seasons of The Courtship of Eddie's Father, we've only posted one review to start off her page. Read about Sayonara, watch a clip from Flower Drum Song, and enjoy! Who doesn't love Anthony Quinn's incredible screen presence? If you're not a die-hard fan of his, take tonight to watch of couple of his classics. Find yourself mesmerized by one of his Rag-nominated performances from Zorba the Greek, The 25th Hour, or The Secret of Santa Vittoria. Or for fun, check out the comedy with Margaret O'Brien, Heller in Pink Tights, a period piece Guns for San Sebastian, the infamously strange The Magus with Michael Caine, or a western with Kirk Douglas, Last Train from Gun Hill.
The time has come to say farewell to Marlon Brando's week on the Rag. I hope you've enjoyed it! All 29 of his reviews are now posted to his page, so now get ready for your clue:

Some of you might be saying, "It's about time!" so I hope you enjoy revisiting his classic films. To start things off on his page, you can watch him perform "Luck Be a Lady" from Guys and Dolls, or read reviews for his Rag-winning performances in The Young Lions and The Teahouse of the August Moon. Enjoy! I hope you've had a great time watching the video ceremonies and looking over the written records of the 1960s Rag nominees and winners.
