James Garner is our new Star of the Week! To start things off, reviews of two sweet movies you might not have seen have been posted to his page, The Art of Love and One Special Night. Also, you can watch the classic clip from The Notebook. Enjoy, and come back every day for two new reviews! I've been known to plow through 500+ pages of a chunky hardcover, but sometimes it's fun to go through a little book of around 200 pages in a day or two. I like to call them 'palate cleansers' between the big books.
Here are a few I've read recently: The Rebel and the King, a charming memoir about Elvis Presley and Nick Adams, They Shoot Horses, Don't They, the seedy dance-marathon drama of the Great Depression, A Patch of Blue, the classic behind the 1965 movie, and Through Five Administrations, a political memoir written by Lincoln's bodyguard. All good things must come to an end, including our week honoring Julie Andrews. But hopefully you enjoyed revisiting old classics and finding new movies you hadn't known she made. All 30 reviews are now posted to her page, if you want to get caught up before the next star. Here's your clue:
Julie Andrews’s pal and three-time costar will be honored starting on Friday. Julie Andrews, the epitome of class and timeless beauty, is our new Star of the Week! To start things off, we have reviews for two of my favorites, One Special Night and Darling Lili posted to her page. You can also watch my favorite clip from The Sound of Music, which won her a Rag award! Also, try and find old episodes of the two-year variety show The Julie Andrews Hour, since the Rag doesn't review television. Enjoy and come back every day for two new reviews! As you probably know from reading my book reviews, or at least perusing the titles, I love to read nonfiction just as much as novels. I recently read an absolutely fascinating political memoir, written by the chief usher at the White House in the 1950s and 1960s. Spanning five administrations, the author details amazing insight into the characters of the First Ladies and lets the readers in on the inside workings of the White House. I couldn't put the book down, and I couldn't recommend it more. Read my full review here.
Emily Blunt's week has come to a close, and all 27 of her reviews are now posted to her page. Remember when I promised there wouldn't be any tricks for this clue? Here is an easy one:
Emily Blunt wasn't the only actress to play a magical singing nanny. Next week's star did it first! I won't accept any guesses, because we all know who she is - but check back Wednesday to start her week. |
