Isn't it nice when you're pleasantly surprised by something? Good books you weren't expecting to entertain you are always a treat. Check out my reviews for Always, The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy, and Lies You Wanted to Hear. They were great!
Gene Tierney's time as Star of the Week has come to an end, and all 26 of her reviews are now posted to her page. Are you ready for the clue for next week's star? Good luck guessing and check back on Tuesday to find out who he is!
Next week’s star said the movie he made with Gene Tierney was his all-time favorite. In addition to movies and the stage, he also made it big on the radio in the 1940s. A toast to our beautiful Star of the Week, Gene Tierney! To start with, you can watch a video clip from Leave Her to Heaven or read reviews of two of my favorite of her performances The Return of Frank James and Belle Starr, now posted to her page. Enjoy! Sometimes, even when you really want to like a book, it disappoints you. No matter how great the premise, or how much slack you cut it, you just don't like it. When I read these three books, 4 3 2 1, Move the Stars, and Strings Attached, I went from elated to disappointed pretty quickly. Oh well. You can't win them all.
Well, folks, unfortunately Randolph Scott's time as Star of the Week has come to a close. That was fun, wasn't it? All 51 of his reviews are now posted to his page - as well as a great biography! Now it's time for your next clue:
Famous for his westerns, it’s only fitting to honor a costar who rode on a horse beside Randolph Scott. In the movie they made together, this beauty played a real life outlaw. Do you know who she is? Come back on Tuesday to start her week. So you're just finished watching about fifty Randolph Scott westerns, as recommended on his Star of the Week page - but you want more! Then head on out to your local used bookstore and try to find a copy of Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott, a biography written by his son. I absolutely loved it, and if you want to find out why, read my full review here! |
