Yes, I realize I goofed up on my post yesterday. December 1st is tomorrow, not today. So you’ll have to wait one more day before finding out the Star of the Week, and to help tide you over, here are some reviews of books I’ve read lately: Single, Carefree, Mellow, a collection of short stories, and the latest volume in the Sweet Valley series: Kiss of the Vampire.

Today is Sidney Poitier's last day, and all 28 reviews have now been posted to his page. Here's a clue for next week's star:
Since it’s almost Christmas, next week’s star is in a very beloved Christmas movie you probably watch every year. And, he was also in two movies with Sidney Poitier! Any guesses? Check back on December 1 (Thursday) to find out who will be our last Star of the Week for the year! This week, Hot Toasty Rag will be honoring Sidney Poitier! Three of his films were already reviewed here because of his costars: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Paris Blues, and Sneakers. And three reviews are new today, listed on his page: The Defiant Ones, A Raisin in the Sun, and my personal favorite A Patch of Blue. Enjoy! And be sure to come back every day for three new movies. Today's the last day of honoring Katharine Hepburn on The Rag, and all 34 reviews have now been posted to her page. What's that? You want a clue for next week's star? Certainly:
In the film they made together, Katharine Hepburn had next week's star over for a very memorable meal. Any guesses? Check back on Monday to find out! This week, Katharine Hepburn will be Hot Toasty Rag's Star of the Week! To start things off, we've got a few of her classics: The Glass Menagerie, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, On Golden Pond, Suddenly Last Summer, and Woman of the Year. Also, I'm throwing in one of my all-time favorite old movies: The African Queen. Check them out on her page, and don't forget to come back every day this week for three new reviews! Now that I’ve finished my collection of movie books from college, I’ll move on to my second major: political science. I know, it’s an odd combination, but an interesting one. If you think about it, they’re both connected because both fields have an enormous influence over public opinion and popular culture!
So, here are a couple of books to get you started: Campaign Boot Camp and The Problem of the Media. Enjoy! Sam Waterston's week has come to a close, and all 30 movie reviews have been posted to his page. Be sure to check out the special review of The Civil War, written by special guest author Jared Plotkin!
Who will next week's star be? Here's a hint: Early in his career, Sam Waterson starred in a Tennessee Williams play, with this four-time Oscar winning actress playing his mother. Check back Wednesday to find out who! |
