Multiplicity (1996)
What’s better than Michael Keaton in a movie? Millions of Michael Keatons in a movie! Alright, so there aren’t a million versions of him, but there are certainly enough to make him the lead and the supporting cast. If you’re like me and you wished he hadn’t turned down Groundhog Day three years earlier, you can rent this movie to see him in a Harold Ramis imaginative comedy with Andie MacDowell as his love interest.
As we all know, from watching Mr. Mom, Michael Keaton can get overwhelmed. In Multiplicity, when he gets overwhelmed, he clones himself! The only problem is, each duplicate has a slight difference from the original and has his own personality quirks. One of the clones is hypermasculine, one of them is more feminine and sensitive, etc. Remember the “tuck, tuck, fold”? If that’s what happens when he clones himself, imagine what happens when one of his clones gets cloned!
This is a pretty cute, wacky comedy from the ’90s. It’s tame, compared to what a modern movie would do to the story, and has two attractive people in the leads, which always helps make a movie more fun to watch. Check it out if you’re in the mood for something silly.
