Sabrina the Teenage Witch: Book One
by David Cody Weiss
I loved the Sabrina the Teenage Witch books as a kid; I actually started reading the books before I saw the television series! In this first of the series, sixteen-year-old Sabrina finds out from her kooky aunts that she’s actually a witch. Her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, introduce her to all the ways magic can enhance her life, but as a new witch, her powers don’t always help her like she intends. Being a teenager is hard enough; how can she balance being a witch, too?
What I love about this series—the books and the television episodes—is how delightfully ’90s it is. It’s hilarious, clean, witty, a little corny, and references pop culture that only a kid who grew up in the ’90s can appreciate. The books are easy, fun reads, and play out exactly like television episodes. It’s great to see the characters acting out the scenes of the book in your mind! Check out this series, which can be read in any order, at your local used bookstore, when you’re in the mood for something light and funny.
Be sure to check out the sixth in the series Ben There, Done That here!
