Sweet Valley University #14: Shipboard Wedding
by Laurie John
Once again, there’s another complete book that starts and ends on the Homecoming Queen boat during the Sweet Valley gang’s spring break vacation. This one wasn’t really my favorite, only because it’s been very obvious that all the build-ups of the past two books will come to a head. All the secrets have been bound to come out in the open, and all the tangles have stayed tangled for a little too long. . . The reader pretty much knows they’ll get untangled. Some do and some don’t; after all, there’s still drama to propel forty or so more books in the series!
Basically, this book serves as character development. Since everyone’s been stuck in a rut in the middle of the ocean for three books, the reader is given the chance to really get inside their heads and find out their fears and passions. I appreciated that aspect of the book, but all in all, it’s not the most exciting volume so far.
