Sweet Valley University #9: Sorority Scandal
by Laurie John
Up until now, there has been hardly any mention of Lila Fowler, and those who grew up with the Sweet Valley gang may have missed her. The wait is over!
Lila and the equally snobbish Bruce Patman (remember him from the childhood books?) find themselves stranded in the mountains after a plane crash, and the banter, survival attempts, and character growth is incredibly enjoyable. No spoilers here; they start off the book about to crash. I found myself just as much, if not more, engrossed in Lila's and Bruce's struggle than with Jessica's and Elizabeth's troubles, which is the true sign of a well-written book.
Meanwhile, the twins find themselves entangled in a silly--but serious to them--battle with Jessica's sorority. A sideline of the "sorority scandal" is Elizabeth's relationship with her teacher. For those of you who were waiting for one of the girls to get into a little less-than-legal trouble, don't skip this volume in the SVU series!
