Swine Not?
by Jimmy Buffett
Jimmy Buffett, a man usually associated with a margarita and a microphone, has written a cute novel about. . .a pig!
After her divorce, a southern woman moves north to New York, with her twins and pet pig in tow. She takes a job, and residence, in a hotel as a chef, but there’s a strict “no pets” policy in the building. Naturally, rather than part with the family pig, all three of them implement madcap strategies to hide little Rumpy from the hotel staff.
For younger readers, it’s pretty cute, but for older folks it might seem a little silly. The writing is hardly noteworthy; it’s pretty obvious if the author wasn’t already famous the publishers might have suggested a writing course. It’s the type of story you’d see on a television family Christmas special (only without the Christmas part) so your niece or granddaughter will probably really like it!
