Texts from Last Night
by Lauren Leto and Ben Bator
Lauren Leto and Ben Bator had a very successful website entitled “Texts From Last Night”, in which they compiled hundreds of anonymous drunk texts so visitors to their blog could laugh at them on the proverbial “morning after”. What’s the next step after you have a successful blog? Write a book and promote it to all your followers!
I’m sure there are more updated versions of this theme, such as embarrassing tweets or Facebook posts, but if you think it’s funny to read people’s drunk and stupid texts, you’ll probably get a good laugh out of this little book. Don’t expect any narrative commentary, though. It’s just compilations of texts, page after page after page. I did get a few chuckles out of it, since it’s in the same vein as the books that complied ridiculous 911 phone calls or absurd accidents, but after a while, it got a little tiresome. Yes, people have drunk-texted and been sorry in the morning. Close to two hundred pages of these one-liner jokes doesn’t mean a two-hour riot fest. It’s an amusing concept, but unless you have a very cynical sense of humor, you probably will find the jokes getting old fast.
