Notes from the Members of the Board:
Gone With the Wind won ten Academy Awards but lost Musical Score to The Wizard of Oz, whose music largely consisted of Harold Arlen’s songs, not Herbert Stothart’s original theme. Max Steiner’s score for Gone With the Wind was the first to give separate themes to all the major characters, paving the way for other composers.
We’re proud to give a Rag to Roman Bohnen, whose performances throughout his career were generally overlooked, but genuine and memorable. Bette Davis makes Rag history by competing against herself three times in the same category.
