A Matter of Will
by Adam Mitzner
Even if you’re not an avid reader, I highly recommend A Matter of Will. Set in the fast-paced, cutthroat world of financial investments, this novel is perfect for the man in your life who claims he doesn’t like to read. Trust me, he’ll love it. Tell him it’s a cross between The Wolf of Wall Street and Boiler Room. My fellow female readers shouldn’t avoid it, though. It’s very exciting!
The protagonist of this cautionary tale possesses the bad combination of being trusting and ambitious. They’re two large flaws that counteract each other, which makes for a perfect tragic hero. He’s a low man on the totem pole in an investment company, and when he’s randomly approached by a millionaire, he believes good luck will magically take over. Since this book is a thriller, you can guess that not all is as it seems. Friends can be foes, money doesn’t buy happiness, and greed is not good. Adam Mitzner takes you on a wild ride from start to finish, and he writes in a perfect blend of foreshadowing and mystery that doesn’t make things too obvious for his readers. One of my favorite modern writers, he’s an intelligent voice who makes the complicated seem easy.
