Cedar Cove #6: 6 Rainier Drive
by Debbie Macomber
Those of you who were consumed by the fire, no pun intended, that destroyed the Cedar Cove restaurant will be very glad to read the latest installment of the Cedar Cove series. I won’t spoil the details for you, but that mystery is finally put to bed in 6 Rainier Drive. What else is there to talk about, you wonder? Have no fear, the residents of the charming coastal town will keep you occupied for many more volumes.
The new couples and the comfortable couples each check in on their readers and let them see how they’re doing. One of the plot points—again, I won’t tell you which one—takes a very realistic turn. Sometimes in cheery soaps like this series, it’s easy to think that everyone finds a happy ending, but not every couple works out. In this volume of the series, one of the relationship dissolves, and Debbie Macomber writes the reasons with realistic and sympathy. Also, there’s a new character who introduces himself, and while he brings a new, mysterious set of problems to town, he’s not exactly my favorite addition. Having finished the entire series, I can look back and identify this middle volume as the turning point. The books prior to it were wonderful, and from the sixth on, they went steadily downhill. However, if you found you liked this book, you’ll have nothing to worry about!
