Clean Sweep

I don’t read these types of books often, but when I do read magical fantasy books, I like them to be comedies. I just can’t take a story seriously when the main characters are vampires, werewolves, and witches. The Innkeeper Chronicles series revolves around a magical innkeeper who shares her magic with the structure itself. The house adapts itself for protection, which is a pretty interesting touch. In the neighborhood, she’s become alarmed at the vicious attacks of neighborhood dogs; all signs point to a magical creature who’s entered the planet for nefarious purposes. A nearby werewolf is both involved in keeping the area safe from the creature and in constantly bickering with the heroine (which indicates a possible romance in later pages).
My only warning would be the graphic depictions of violence and action sequences. Although the book is clearly intended to make readers laugh, there’s a surprising amount of blood and guts. It wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, but I am rather squeamish and as previously stated, this isn’t my usual genre. Perhaps the target audience is more used to werewolves ripping flesh apart and vampires draining blood.
