Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)
I remember watching Drop Dead Gorgeous as a kid. I thought it would be my new favorite movie! Gorgeous girls, gorgeous gowns, and a beauty contest as the setting; what could go wrong? Actually a lot. There’s a sinister turn to the plot – just imagine a little girl watching beauty contestants being murdered!
Kirsten Dunst, Denise Richards, and a host of other pretty hopefuls enter a beauty pageant, but someone is trying to either kill the girls or scare them so badly they drop out. Family, boyfriends, and the girls themselves are not safe, and the crimes are downright creepy. Unless you really have it in for beautiful girls, I would not recommend this movie. It’s cruel and disturbing, and almost a horror movie. As a little girl, I kept covering my eyes. As an adult, I’m sure I would do the same thing – except I have no intention of sitting through it ever again. Even with a supporting cast of Ellen Barkin, Kirstie Alley, Allison Janney, Brittany Murphy, Amy Adams, Amanda Detmer, and a cameo of Adam West, it really isn’t worth a second chance.
Kiddy Warning: Obviously, you have control over your own children. However, due to violence, I wouldn’t let my kids watch it.
