Eight Cousins
by Louisa May Alcott
I was very excited to read Eight Cousins, for the sole reason of reading another work by Louisa May Alcott. Like most American women, I adore Little Women. Eight Cousins was a bit of a disappointment, but if you’re a die-hard Alcott fan and want to read everything she ever wrote, you’ll probably add this to your list.
The plot isn’t bad, but the execution is quite boring. A sick, lonely girl gets sent to live with her aunts and therefore meets her eight cousins. Everyone has his or her own personalities, of course, and while it’s all supposed to be charming and moving (an overall lesson on the healing powers of family), but I was bored to tears! I just couldn’t get into this book, as much as I wanted to.
