In this creepy thriller, Susannah York stars as a woman who may or may not be sane. She’s a writer who sometimes gets so immersed by what she’s writing, she loses control of reality. From brief flashes to entire interactions with other people, certain things happen and Susannah (and the audience) is unsure of whether or not they’re real or in her imagination.
There’s a bit of a personal touch to this movie, as Susannah actually wrote the children’s book her character writes. She showed the story she was writing to director Robert Altman, and he was so impressed, he incorporated it into the screenplay. If you want to see her in a dark, eerie role, you can rent if; but if you’re not her biggest fan, definitely skip it. I appreciated the effort, but it felt too much like a cheap 1970s thriller (which it was) for me to want to watch it again.
Kiddy Warning: Obviously, you have control over your own children. However, due to violence and sexual content, I wouldn't let my kids watch it.
DLM Warning: If you suffer from vertigo or dizzy spells, like my mom does, this movie might not be your friend. There are several camera tilts and swerves without warning , and that will make you sick. In other words, "Don't Look, Mom!"
