People I Know (2002)
In the seedy underworld of drugs, sex, and unsolved murders, lots of famous people forget their troubles and in the morning can pretend they were never there. Why do rich people get away with everything? According to People I Know, it’s because they pay others to cover up their scandals. Al Pacino is one of the “cleaners”, but he gets in over his head when politician Ryan O’Neal gets involved with the trashy Téa Leoni. Téa does drugs, hangs out in creepy nightclubs, and has disreputable friends.
Now, if it was your job to quiet such people by any means necessary, would you go out partying with them and take so many drugs you can’t remember what happened? That’s what Al Pacino does, and for the rest of the movie he tries to piece together the mystery of how Tea got murdered right in front of him, who did it, who’s trying to cover it up, and why he’s being used. If that sounds like a whole heap of fun, go out and rent this movie. As long as you know the filthy environment you’re getting into, there probably won’t be any surprises.
Kiddy Warning: Obviously, you have control over your own children. However, due to drug use, I wouldn't let my kids watch it. Also, there may or may not be a rape scene.
