Searching for Dragons
by Patricia C. Wrede
In the sequel to the delightfully offbeat Dealing with Dragons, a tween book about a princess who looks forward to being kidnapped by a dragon so she doesn’t have to marry a prince and live happily ever after, Searching for Dragons takes another quirky turn. This installment of the series is told from the point of view of a king who doesn’t like following the rules either. When he leaves the palace to find out why the magic in the Enchanted Forest is being disrupted, he finds out that there’s been a kidnapping. It’s not a princess who’s been kidnapped, it’s a dragon! And, naturally, it’s Princess Cimorene’s dragon, so the lead from the last book meets and develops a friendship with the lead from the current book.
I always like origin stories the best, and sequels are rarely as good as their predecessors. However, this one was still pretty cute, and I look forward to continuing the series.
