Sweet Valley University #16: The Other Woman
by Laurie John
As you can tell by the picture on the cover, The Other Woman focuses on the blossoming romance between Jessica and her college professor. But why is it called The Other Woman? You might be able to guess, but in case you can’t, you’ll have to read it to find out.
Louis isn’t my favorite love interest ever included in the Sweet Valley crowd, but since I love Jessica, I hope she finds true love and happiness despite it all. Tom and Elizabeth, a true power couple, are getting closer to exposing some deep corruption within the college administration, and while normally I wouldn’t really enjoy the journalism part of the plot, this time around it’s very intriguing. Two of my favorite couples, Denise and Winston, and Lila and Bruce are also tested in this volume. What I love about these college-themed books is the relatability no matter the circumstance. Even though it’s supposed to be a little fluffy that Lila and Bruce run out of money, it’s a pretty serious issue all couples have to face at some point. When you’re stripped of everything you’re used to, will love be enough to see you through? Read this exciting volume to see how the youngsters handle it.
