Sweet Valley University #18: Billie's Secret
by Laurie John
I knew it was too good to last; the Sweet Valley books have been so wonderful and exciting lately. They were due for a filler book, and Billie’s Secret is it. Normally, I don’t give spoilers, but since this spoiler is revealed pretty early on in the book and it’s so silly, I’m going to tell you. Billie, Steven’s girlfriend, is keeping a terrible secret: she plays the guitar. I’m not kidding. The side plots? Jessica gets a job in retail and Elizabeth gets offended that a fictionalized version of Hooters Restaurant only hires well-endowed waitresses. Again, I’m not kidding.
I’d never advocate skipping an entire book, but if ever there was a book to skip, it’s this one. Still, since they’re such quick reads, you might as well just take an afternoon and knock this one out. Then, tomorrow, get on to the real drama.
