Sweet Valley University #22: Elizabeth's Summer Love
by Laurie John
I’m loving this summer with the Sweet Valley University kids! Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield have switched places emotionally, and their unique summer is filled with intense experiences. Responsible Elizabeth is still fighting her mutual attraction to lifeguard captain Ryan, even though she has a boyfriend back home, and Jessica is still being a model lifeguard while juggling her unrequited love triangle.
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Jessica, but it’s nice to see Elizabeth experiencing some of the fickle uncertainty of youth as well. Elizabeth’s Summer Love may seem to favor one twin in the title, but Jessica has her fair share of pages in this book, as do Nina, Winston, and the other new friends on the beach. These summer volumes are extremely entertaining, fast-paced, and full of emotional, exciting plot points. It almost makes you wonder why the kids bother going to college, if so much drama and romance happens over summer vacation!
