Sweet Valley University #29: One Last Kiss
by Laurie John
My goodness, this volume of Sweet Valley University is sad! Continuing with the two love triangles involving Elizabeth Wakefield, she and Tom still hate each other and feel the pain of their recent, terrible breakup while Tom’s new girlfriend tries to win him over. Liz and Todd are reunited, but with his girlfriend Gin-Yung back in the picture, everyone involved—and everyone reading—will shed quite a few tears.
This is not your average college sorority book. The gang at Sweet Valley have to face something no one wants to face, especially at such a young and tender age. As sad as this book is, though, it’s a testament to Laurie John’s writing that she can make her story accessible to young people without being overwhelming and unrealistic. These are very real characters reacting in very real ways. I’m sure you’ll find your own reactions in some of the passages.
