Sweet Valley University #35: Undercover Angels
by Laurie John
I love the new setting of the country club for the Sweet Valley gang. I love that it’s a life-or-death situation for Bruce to purposely lose a tennis match so Lila can get in with the popular crowd, and that she has to match her nail polish or else face social alienation. It’s entertaining, funny, and silly.
In Undercover Angels, the murder at the country club still hasn’t been solved, and both Wakefield twins are doing their part to help, completely unaware of each other’s involvement. Elizabeth is working with her new reporter friend Scott, trying to dig deeper in secret. Jessica is all dolled up as an Eva Peron-esque heiress, working undercover with Nick the cop. Tom also gets involved, but for the wrong reasons. He doesn’t want Elizabeth to beat him in a scoop, so he’s sets up his own contacts by making friends with the busboys who work there.
This exciting path of the Sweet Valley kids reaches an unexpected and nail-biting conclusion. How much danger can these young students survive before they decide to drop out of college? While I might not want to live what they go through, it’s enormous fun to read about. Loved this one!
