Sweet Valley University #8: Home for Christmas
by Laurie John
Oh, the Wakefields! Two fixtures missing from the pseudo-adult college world are Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield, and now that it's Christmas break, the kids--and readers--get to go home and spend a couple of weeks with Mom and Pop. The hilarious set-up: Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield have been on a Caribbean cruise, and they know nothing about their daughters' college scandals. All three of the children, and Tom, are sworn to secrecy at the start of the book. Will someone spill the beans? Hmm, I wonder.
Still, I like reading about the children's dynamic with their parents. As grown up as they're trying to be at SVU, they return to nervous adolescents when no longer under a dorm roof. This isn't the most exciting book in the series, but a few plot lines are introduced in this book that are hints for future books; it'll keep you wanting more!
