The Rescuers Down Under (1990)
Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor are back in The Rescuers Down Under as Disney takes them to Australia to pal around with exotic creatures and beautiful landscapes. George C. Scott is the evil bad guy who poaches endangered animals, and he accidentally captures a little boy alongside his rare eagle. Bob and Eva team up to rescue both the boy and the bird, and they’re joined by John Candy, who voices an albatross (the brother of the albatross who helped them in The Rescuers). It's pretty cute that the bird brothers are named Orville and Wilbur!
Although I like Disney movies to have songs in them, I recognize that The Rescuers and its sequel are classics. They’re fun to watch every once in a while, even though they’re not my go-to cartoons. For me, it’s a little too scary and threatening to animals. I do love Oliver & Company, which also has some scary and threatening bits as well, but the main plot point doesn’t involve a poacher and endangered species.
