The Town Santa Forgot (1993)
No Christmas is complete in my house until we watch the “Jeremy Creek” tv special, narrated by Dick Van Dyke. Told entirely in rhyme, this little cartoon teaches a valuable lesson: greed is bad. Sorry, Michael Douglas.
Jeremy Creek is spoiled and wants more toys, toys, toys. He throws an embarrassing tantrum whenever his parents try to say no. They give in and buy him whatever he wants. The whole house is full of his toys, and it’s so much fun to see all the unique playthings – and all set to rhyme. When “finally Mom lost it” (a very funny line in my household) and she refuses him any more toys, he decides to write to Santa to ask for all the things he wants.
The fun part of watching certain cartoons (the good ones) is that you learn a little more the older you get. You can’t imagine how many years it took me to understand the ending. If it’s been a few years since you’ve revisited Jeremy Creek, check it out this December and see what you pick up.
