Two for the Road (1967)
Two for the Road is a classic, and it’s one of those movies that are fun to watch every few years, but it’s not one of my favorites. Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn just spend two hours bickering with each other. When you have the opportunity to put two beautiful people together, why give them a script of incessant fighting?
This shouldn’t be relevant, but this movie was released the year after Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, so in contrast, it doesn’t really pack a punch. It has a memorable theme, some classic lines, and has enormous eye candy – even in the littlest details like Audrey’s sunglasses. But theirs is a pretty mediocre marriage with relatively harmless fights. What’s the big deal? Her sunglasses, I guess; they are pretty big.
