Wedding Crashers (2005)
When I was in college, it was practically a prerequisite for every guy to have a DVD copy of Wedding Crashers in his dorm room. Just as movies like Clueless and Legally Blonde are quintessential chick flicks, Wedding Crashers is a movie every guy will like.
Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are two buddies who make a career out of busting into weddings, making up a fake backstory, and picking up girls to take home. I know, it’s insulting and disrespectful, but it’s also a comedy. If you don’t think you’ll like it, then don’t watch it. Everything is going well for the perpetual bachelors until they crash the wrong wedding. Christopher Walken, a powerful politician, and his wife Jane Seymour are wealthy and classy, but their daughters are a little more reckless. Isla Fisher is a loose cannon and immediately latches onto Vince, and Rachel McAdams is interested in Owen even though she has a (lousy) boyfriend, Bradley Cooper.
Ladies, feel free to sit this one out. I know Owen is a cutie pie, but it’s such a guy fest, you might as well throw a party and put on Chocolat for the girls while the fellows laugh their guts off in the other room. I like Hall Pass better, which is still obviously aimed at the boys, but has a little more of a touching story to it.
