We're No Angels (1955)
Three convicts escape from prison on Devil’s Island. They break into a small family-owned, unsuccessful shop intending to rob and murder, but when the family shows them kindness, they discover feelings they haven’t felt in years: humanity, humility, and hope.
This Christmas comedy stars Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, and Aldo Ray as the three “angels” and Leo G. Carroll, Joan Bennett, and Gloria Talbott as the kind shop owners. Heartwarming and hilarious, it shows us it’s never too late to change, and that there’s a little angel in all of us. There are so many reasons to recommend this movie: if you like seeing the softer side of Humph, if Peter melts your heart, or if you love good Samaritan movies about strangers who touch the lives of others. No one thinks about watching this sweet movie during Christmas, but it will be a great addition to your usual fare.
