Happy Thanksgiving everyone! It used to be a tradition in my family to go out to the movies after dinner, to work up an appetite for pumpkin and apple pie. We saw all the Disney classics, and later when us kids were older, all the Harry Potter movies. Such fun! Lately, there hasn't been anything released Thanksgiving weekend that we want to see. I had wanted to see the new Nutcracker, but after I saw the preview and realized it wasn't a ballet, I was pretty disappointed. So, we're staying in tonight. What are you going to see? If any of you are staying in as well, you can watch Hannah and Her Sisters, which takes place on Thanksgiving!

Here he is, folks, Hot Toasty Rag's last Star of the Week for 2018: Bing Crosby! It's obvious why he's our Christmas star, since he can be heard singing Christmas carols in every shop and household during the month of December, and he also made two famous Christmas flicks! To start with, we've posted to his page reviews of Going My Way, Road to Morocco, and Anything Goes, as well as a video clip from Road to Bali. Keep checking back every day for new reviews and coming up is our 12 Days of Christmas movies post! Speaking of Christmas, even though I don't review television programs, who hasn't watched Bing Crosby's Christmas and television specials? No, it’s not what you think. I’m not reading up on books about wedding planning or the most beautiful weddings in history. I’ve already read those when I was in my tweens. This post, I’m sharing a few novels that have the marital theme in the title. While Wife by Wednesday and Forever a Bridesmaid are light and fluffy, The Marriage Lie is a suspenseful thriller. Take your pick!
Some people would read coming-of-age books in the spring, but I like to read them in the fall. Usually, these books are dark and slightly upsetting, forcing youngsters to grow up. If there wasn’t an upsetting catalyst, no one would write a book about it, right?
So, since it’s fall, here are three very well written books I read this year: Commonwealth, The Adults, and Local Girls. What’s the last coming-of-age book you read? William Holden's time as Star of the Week has come to a close, and all 26 of his movie reviews are posted to his page. It's time to guess the next star, who will be our very last featured actor for the year. I hope you've enjoyed all the clues and discovering all the links between our actors and actresses. It was very fun to plan!
Since he will be our last Star of the Week, he will also be our Christmas star--keep that in mind when you're guessing! He and William Holden made a movie together, but he's most famous nowadays for his association with Christmas. You can catch him in two famous holiday classics. There's your clue; any guesses? Check back on Monday to find out who it is! William Holden is our new Star of the Week! With so many classic films, it's hard to know where to start, but we're going to start with reviews of Golden Boy, Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing, and my favorite, Picnic. Also, a video clip from The Bridge on the River Kwai is posted to his page. Enjoy, and check back every day for three fresh reviews! I separate the books I read into seasons. It’s so automatic now, that whenever I buy new books, I can’t help but categorize them into what part of the year I’ll get to read them! Summer is light and fluffy, fall is thrillers, winter is the classics, and spring is everything else I didn’t get to. This fall, I had a great lineup of thrillers. Check out my reviews for Anything for Her, Poison Study, Genesis Girl, Eight Hundred Grapes, The Book of Ivy, Orchids and Stones, and Caraval.
